documented some of the most
critical conflicts and humanitarian
crises of our time, from the war
in Ukraine to the plight of Syrian
refugees. He has reported across
the globe, addressing issues such
as social inequality and urban violence
in Latin America, humanitarian
crises across Europe and Africa,
and numerous conflicts in the
Middle East and Asia. In 2023, he
won the Pulitzer for his coverage
of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
He shares his experience with
Renata Brito on “Adrift,” a digital
investigation using writing, photography,
video, and graphics to
retrace the journey of 43 people
lost in the Atlantic. See page 50.
